Dr. Kenneth L. Tankersley
Dr. Tankersley was born in Richmond, VA before moving within his first year to Newport News. He remained here until the completion of high school. He then attended the University of Virginia where he graduated with a B.A. in 1991. He obtained his dental education from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry where he graduated with high honors in 1997.
Desiring to specialize within the field of dentistry, he furthered his education at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. There, his studies combined a medical education with oral and maxillofacial surgery training. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2001 and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2003. Immediately following residency, he moved back to the area to pursue private practice with Hampton Roads Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery where he sees patients in both the Newport News and Gloucester offices.

Dr. Tankersley enjoys the many facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery with emphasis on the removal of wisdom teeth and other dental extractions, pre-prosthetic surgery including the placement of dental implants, oral pathology, outpatient anesthesia, and corrective jaw surgery.
Dr. Tankersley is an exercise enthusiast and an avid mountain biker. He always enjoys reading a good book and occasionally getting away to a sunny and warm destination. He is married to another Newport News native, Christy Ascher. Together, he and his wife are happily kept busy raising two daughters and supporting their endeavors.
